FaceDown 1.4.1

This is a minor update that fixes a weird url redirection thing that Facebook has recently added that wasn’t handled by previous versions of FaceDown (eg. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/photo_search.php?id=28100486 is actually the Facebook homepage, but redirects using Javascript to http://www.facebook.com/photo_search.php?id=28100486).  As an added bonus, I added an extra box in the interface that shows the URLs that have been downloaded so far.

You know the url trick that allows one to view *all* albums that a person has appeared in? (http://www.facebook.com/photos.php?subj=)

Sometimes it brings up an album which none of the photos appear under the “view more pictures of (soandso)”, so how would we go about manipulating the url so FaceDown will download from those particular albums?

  2. FaceDown Says:

I just tried that url and it seems to show all of your friends’ recent albums, not ones that you have appeared in. If you use that url in FaceDown, it will download all the albums on the page. I don’t think that for that particular page it will automatically click “next” to get to the next page of albums (because facebook uses a funny url for that set of pages). FaceDown will pretty much download all the photos/albums from any page that you can view in facebook, just use that url in the program.

I just tried it and no avail. I went to the page from which I specifically wanted to download, and FaceDown ended up skipping a few albums and starting near the bottom, because some of those albums are set to private.

Is there another way to get access, say, a url from one of the photos in the private album? I know you can get *direct* access to one of the photos by right clicking the album picture, clicking properties, and then copying/pasting the url. (Furthermore, if one wanted access to the full size picture, all you have to do is replace the “a” with an “n”)

I just realized that you used that url I gave out (http://www.facebook.com/photos.php?subj=) incorrectly. At the end of subj=, you’re supposed to put your friend’s profile id.

FaceDown should download all albums in the url that you give it that you can see when you use the same login in a regular web browser (if they are private and the login that you use in FaceDown does not have access to the albums, then FaceDown will not be able to download them). You can also try using the url of a single picture or album view of the album that you are having problems downloading and FaceDown will then download all the pictures from that album.
